Think “pink” – what comes to mind? For some it reminds them of the American pop star ‘Pink’, but others (and especially girls) are reminded of their days as a child playing with their favorite doll “Barbie”! Regardless of what comes to mind, the colour “pink” is a representation of femininity. During October, this color is used as a symbol of “Breast Cancer Awareness”! It symbolizes when the world comes together to highlight “breast cancer” and to focus on this ailment as part of everyday conversation!
DKT/T carried out an “awareness campaign” to youth (particularly university students), where we met over 3,000 students at the “Institute of Social Sciences”. We invited a medical doctor to speak on the symptoms of breast cancer, how to self-detect and discuss what treatment/s were available. Detection as soon as possible was key in overcoming the vagaries of this cancer
